Dear Diary:

Got up late still have this blasted cold uh! I didn’t go with Mom & Grandma to the super. I stayed home & watched TV. In the afternoon we went to Halles I got 2 pairs of pants which I have to forget about & get again for Xmas. We bought Whoppers home. Boy I’m getting  popular 4 telephone calls (3 of them I wasn’t home) Mr. Lansdorf calling. Nancy ran away Mon & want to know if I had any clue. 6 days wow! In church David dropped his coin & it went down 4 isle. Also I got the case of the giggles.

BYE!!

Note: Mom would do her holiday shopping while in Ohio and I bet she crossed her fingers that we didn’t grow or gain too much weight before Christmas.

I never found out what happened to Nancy but unfortunately she hadn’t told me of her plans. I wonder what made her run away and why her parents waited six days to call me if they thought I might know something.

Some things never change - I still get the bad case of the giggles. I did last week during qi-gong on Zoom with my brother. It was a good thing we were muted!

Dear Diary:

I watched TV ate lunch. Mary came in & we discussed Nancy’s running away. We went to see the fish a total of about 5 times. Del Regnos came, Kay & Larry & kids & Catherine a cousin of Grandpa. We had fun. Played volley ball, pretended to take pictures of the guys in the Men’s bathroom (window right open) etc. Jacky took each us by for a ride in his new sports car. Its was neato. Little Larry & Danny were cute. Got to take a bath.

BYE!!!

Note: The Del Regnos were my second cousins and a lot older than us. Their mother Aunt Liz was my Grandfather’s baby sister.

My Grandparents house was on the church and school property. I don’t remember a men’s bathroom but that wasn’t very nice of us.

It was a thrill to ride in Jackie’s new sports car. He was pretty cool being in his twenties!

Grandpa’s on vacation. I was in a bad mood today. After lunch we went shopping. 2 golf stores to get Dad golf things & to May’s & then later to Zayres. Got some cotton candy. I got a bikini real pretty. I bought 2 glasses of Archie Bunker for Grandma & Grandpa’s anniver. I got a button stiking its tong off & got some bubble gum for Simmon. Uncle Norm brought us a jacket. Went to Mrs. Covey’s.

BYE!!

I still remember the button - it was green and with a scrunched up face sticking it’s tongue out. I thought it was funny.

Archie Bunker was the star of “All in the Family,” a controversial sitcom my grandparents watched. Archie was a gruff, over-opinionated, bigoted person from the 70’s, always arguing with his son-in-law while their wives tried to keep the peace.

Buying clothes for us tall skinny gringos was always a problem back then...we didn't make frequent trips back to the states to "stock up". I seem to recall going to a tailor now and then to get a decent fit. Shoes were uncomfortable too. (school dress codes, no tennis shoes, etc). We had it so bad....(sarcasm).

Love the comment… I got 2 pairs of pants which I have to forget about and get again at Christmas. —That is exactly what my mom did to me all the time. She would buy things and then insist that she keep them until Christmas. Pure torture! Amanda S

I may be 75 but I get the giggles all the time! Sometimes even in church. I sit with an old high school friend and we are still giggling. We both grew up in CUMC.

Enjoyed your episode as always!
