Dear Diary:
I stayed after school for no reason but cause no car to pick me up. I like soccer better. I like being the halfback by the goal. I was the captain. I came home on bus. David had Chef club; Becky choir. I did alot of homework. Test coming out of my ears. I talked to Missy & Anja. Mom & Dad went to the movies to see The Secret Sex Life of Romeo & Juliet. Balbino took us to the DEVY or Youth Group Bingo. It was fun. None of us won anything.
BYE!!!
Note: Mom picked us up everyday in her white 4 door Plymouth Fury III. I learned to drive in it. It had a manual transmission with the shift on the steering wheel.
I don’t remember what DEVY stood for but I know I still love to play bingo. My mom did too. She played for quarters that she saved for my boys.
Balbino worked for my dad and he took us places and watched out for us. I loved Balbino, he reminded me a bit of Cantiflas, a Spanish comedian. He was funny and taught me how to make piñatas and kites.

Dear Diary:
School History test failed and I got a 76 on Science. Didn’t have Spanish test which I studied most for. Bisbee asked me today what Lover’s Lane was. Boy what he think he’s trying to prove. Earthquakes in Spanish. Stayed for Drama really didn’t do anything. Came home on bus. Missy came over I went to (we) to Simmons. I watched t.v. Read Newspapers.

Dr. Bisbee was my English teacher and always made me uncomfortable. He would stand at the bottom of the staircase and look up our dresses or skirts. I always wore shorts under mine!

Dear Diary:
Today I was so tired! I finally finished “I’m a Lucky Guy” Its real funny & good. I sorta just layed around today. I was real lazy. Just talked. David & Becky & I did the magic rock things. Almost all morning. I wrote on the behinds of pictures the date etc. for my photo album. I watched t.v. Killed almost 5 or 6 of these stupid gnats in the bathroom. Mom & Dad went out eat & then to a party at the Murphy’s.
BYE!!!!
Note: The Magic Rock polishing kit was a lot of fun. It took rough rocks and turned them into shiny gem-like stones. It was very loud and the process took a lot of time.
"Behinds" cracked me up too!
Sounds like your Mr. Bisbee was quite the letch. As y'all remember, the "double standard" was alive and well down there in those days. Young ladies had to be particularly careful. Pretty sure my sisters were well versed.
Our 1st car in C.R. was a Ford Falcon...ok for the city, marginal for the outskirts, totally inadequate for the boonies, but that never stopped mom wanting to go "where no man has gone before" to quote Star Trek.
Write on the behinds made me do a double take! Hilarious! And what a creep the teacher was. Love reading these! Maybe Adeline needs a rock tumbler! Sounds neat!!
Well I finally binge read ALL your entries! (I took the afternoon 'off'). It is so funny.to read and get a glimpse of all of you. I do not remember ever caring so much about or studying for my classes as you did. [But then Michael recently found a report card from 7th grade for me where I got an F on my final exam so I guess that shows. I didn't remember that.]

Awesome glasses! Thank you for writing & posting!
The ‘behinds of pictures!’ Ha ha! You’re too much fun and there’s no ’denying’ it.
